Ms. Welch is a retired educator with about 32 years experience working as a teacher and administrator at the school, district and state levels. She also worked for three years at a nonprofit initiative with the goal of assisting small startup schools in Oregon, including Nixyaawii Community School. Her mother is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
