A selection of prints from Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts, as well as the work of the late Apolonia Susana Santos (Yakama), are featured in a Native art exhibit at the Portland International Airport in concourse D/E.

Featured are prints by artists Vanessa Enos (Walla Walla/Yakama/Pima), Wendy Red Star (Crow), Phillip John Charette (Yup’ik), Rick Bartow (Wiyot), Jeffrey Gibson (Mississippi Band Choctaw/Cherokee), Joe Feddersen (Colville), Lillian Pitt (Wasco/Yakama/Warm Springs) and James Lavadour (Walla Walla), as well as baskets by master weaver Joey Lavadour (Walla Walla).

The exhibit opened October 1 and will be on display through April 30, 2012.

The display will coincide with the National Congress of American Indians 68th annual convention and marketplace, October 30 through November 4, 2011, in Portland.

It’s estimated about 7 million travelers will be passing by the display over the next six months.

If you happen to be passing through that section of the airport, be sure to stop and check out the work!
