Eva Lake

Works
Biography

Currently living in Portland, Lake works and shows in both painting and photomontage. In her oil paintings, Lake’s canvases exhibit a dynamic movement of light and color that when displayed in sequence can create something of an optical event. Her likewise celebrated photomontages, in turn, explore both the tangible and abstract beauty of glamorous women.

Equally intriguing as her present pursuits, Lake’s lifelong artistic endeavors have involved music, fashion and extensive travels throughout both Europe and the United States. After studying art history at the University of Oregon, Lake’s many adventures included a period spent abroad in the 1970s London punk scene—including as a vocal performer, as well as years spent in Portland, San Francisco and New York, where she studied at the influential Art Students League.

Lake’s residency was being funded, in part, through a generous grant project from The Ford Family Foundation intended to support both Oregon nonprofit residency programs and mid-career Oregon visual artists.
