Brenda Mallory

Brenda Mallory is primarily known as a sculpture and installation artist, mining natural materials and mimicking organic processes with her generative installations. Texture and repeated rhythmic forms are instrumental to Mallory’s abstract compositions. A long-time Portland resident, Mallory’s artwork has recently begun to garner more national attention, particularly as a recipient of a prestigious 2015 Eiteljorg Contemporary Art Fellowship in Indianapolis and a 2016 Native Art and Culture Foundation Fellowship in Visual Arts.

Mallory has attended multiple residencies, including a 2013 Residency in Sculpture at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado, and a 2015 GLEAN Residency in Portland, Oregon. She is represented by Butters Gallery in Portland, by Julie Nester Gallery in Park City (UT), and by Patricia Rovzar Gallery in Seattle. Mallory’s 2016 Golden Spot Residency is her first time working at Crow’s Shadow.
