PENDLETON, OREGON – After an extensive search process, the Board of Directors of Crow's Shadow Institute of the Arts is pleased to announce Phinney Brown as our new Executive Director. A Coeur d'Alene Tribe descendent and beadwork artist, Phinney brings a rich background in nonprofit leadership and passion for the arts. We are thrilled to welcome her fresh perspective to our team, including over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership and a wealth of knowledge in marketing, event planning, and relationship management. 

 

Phinney officially began her role at Crow’s Shadow on October 2, 2023.

 

As Phinney takes over the leadership of Crow’s Shadow she will begin immersing herself in the numerous communities that our institution serves. We recognize her professional capabilities of leading us towards new vistas which will expand both our traditional indigenous arts program as well as the print arts that has continued to garner well-deserved acclaim. - Michael Holloman, Crow’s Shadow Board Chair

 

Crow’s Shadow, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, is eager to welcome Phinney during this moment of organizational transition and is looking forward to an invigorating next chapter with her at the helm. 

 

 

About Phinney Brown 

Phinney Brown is a Coeur D’Alene Tribe descendant, and an accomplished nonprofit leader with a passion for the arts. With over a decade of experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge in nonprofit leadership, marketing, event planning, and relationship management.

 

Hailing originally from Hermiston, Oregon, Phinney has since made Richland, Washington her home, and has been a part of the local performing arts scene for many years. She is also a skilled visual artist, specializing primarily in beadwork. 

Phinney currently serves on the board of directors for the Tri-Cities, WA tourism council, Visit Tri-Cities!, showcasing her dedication to enhancing the region's cultural and economic landscape. In 2018 and 2019, she served as Tourism Committee Chair for the Prosser, WA Chamber of Commerce. She looks forward to immersing herself in the communities CSIA serves. 

 

Committed to fostering economic and artistic development within Native communities, Phinney is excited to lead Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts into its next phase, carrying forward its mission with dedication and vision.
