Recognizing art as an intrinsic and essential element of Native American culture, we are committed to helping people, of all ages and experiences, develop their artistic skills. Through a variety of professional and educational services, we support artists in developing a strong voice while also providing a conduit to the larger art world. Traditional art workshops have been a vital piece of Crow’s Shadow’s identity since its founding. Under the leadership of our Traditional Arts Manager, CSIA hosts a variety of workshops throughout the year.
Wristlet Workshop with Sequoia Conner
9AM - 5PM, MAY 27-28, 2023
Sequoia Conner is a San Carlos Apache tribal member. Sequoia has been beading for several years. She learned how to bead from various relatives. Her beading techniques include flat stitch/applique, rope/wrap stitch, and loom beadwork. She creates various beadwork from accessories to traditional attire. She beads both for commission, and to add pieces for her family collection.
Round Basket Weaving Workshop
with Joey Lavadour, Walla Walla tribal member

Joey will teach participants how to weave a round basket using yarn, and twine. The workshop will be held at Crow's Shadow from 9am to 5pm, Friday through Sunday, April 21-23, 2023. Workshop supplies and lunch will be provided with a registration fee of $10.
Loomed Bracelet Workshop with Celeste Reeves
9AM - 5PM, JUNE 17-18, 2023
Celeste Reeves is a Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation tribal member. Celeste has been sewing and beading for years. Creations include smaller pieces such as earrings to larger pieces like dresses, and many other pieces in between.
Choker Workshop with Peyton La Mere

Peyton La Mere is a Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation tribal member. Peyton has been beading for several months. She began beading medicine bags, and earrings. She beads both for commission, and to add to her family’s collection.
